Feel weird, this. I know I haven’t really touched the site in months, but officially going “Thassit!” is a strange sensation. Of course, I might post another page of snippets at some point (and I might not), but I’m walking away from this. And I’d like to think I’ve managed to put together enough decent material to do so with my head held high.

Exams are done with, and I’m starting on my master’s degree in late August. Did really well on the one, decently well on the other. My pride took a beating on that last one, but I passed with an ‘average to slightly above average’ grade (that’s a 7 to you Danes out there), and I suppose that’s what counts, yeah?

So yeah. I’ll be trying to come up with something else to toss my creative powers at. Not sure what that’ll be, but my brain’s slowly bubbling with a few ideas. I tried silly fan-comic, now it’s time for something else.

So yeah, I haven’t exactly tested Wowmodelviewer thoroughly, but it seems to be showing all the bits and pieces, which is all I need, really. Combine that with my history exams being done in the next month or so, and I may actually have both time and opportunity to toss up a new episode or two! *Gasp*

- Wowmodelviewer is still borked beyond recognition. I’ve been trying to go over the newest fan-made versions, but they’re not kosher. Robes only show up from the belt up, the lower half is flesh-coloured (ewww), etc. etc.

- My studies are taking up a good deal of my energy these days, and exams are looming once again.

- I’m growing a bit ‘meh’ about the game as a whole these days. Hoping it’s a phase, but it’s hard to say.

- Making the comics is less fun when it’s something you have to do on a deadline. I suppose the only way of really getting around this would be to make 50 episodes, then post them once a week for a year or something. >.> But still, it’s difficult for me to get going with it when it feels like a chore.

I don’t want to say never here. I did enjoy making the comics a lot, and I’d like to get back to it at some point. But it would have to be after exams, with an old version of WoW installed on a secondary harddisk (so that I could run an old version of Modelviewer). And I’d have to feel ‘up for it’.

I know it’s a lot of maybes and whines, but that’s the gist of it. I’m very grateful for the comments I’ve received and for all the people who’ve read my comic, and I do feel guilty for not keeping at it lately. I hope things will fall back in place so I can give you at least a handful more episodes. At some point.

IRL, things have been everything but quiet. Settling down in the new flat with my better half. Is lovely! Of course, life decides to blindside me with a “So, you thought you were going to take that history exam this summer? Well guess what? It’s this MONDAY, beeatch!”. Yeah. Fun.
Souw, I’m looking over the Battle of Hastings and Bayeux tapestries once again, hoping I’ll do better this time around. >.>

Regular history classes seem to vary greatly in quality this semester. “Historical Methods” is great. Very competent teacher, interesting stuff. It’s all about going over old texts and deciding whether people are lying their arses off or not. Bordering on detective work, really.

“Macro-historical perspectives”, though, is another kettle of fish altogether. New teacher. Nice, but very insecure. And my fellow students (freshmen, mostly) make comments like “The Moors - weren’t they a nomadic tribe somewhere in North Africa?”, “Saladin lived in the late 1400s” and “Modern day ships don’t travel directly between Europe and North America because they want to avoid the Bermuda Triangle”. Yes, seriously.

On the other hand, we’re handed out questions like “Why didn’t Europeans colonise Japan, Korea or China in the 1500s?”. When I answered with “Because they could actually strike back”, I was corrected. Nono, it was because of distance from Europe and population density. Yeah. And this from the same teacher who went “Weapon technology didn’t really help the conquistadors”. Right. So 200 Spanish soldiers vs 10,000 natives wouldn’t have turned out differently without the guns.
Gnah. Sorry. Done ranting. I’ll get back to my tapestries now.
